Does Babbel Have A Farsi (Persian) Course?
Despite the importance and long history of the Farsi language, Babbel doesn’t currently have a Farsi course.
Farsi (also known as Persian) is a fascinating language with a long and rich history.
Today Farsi is spoken by approximately 110 million people mainly in Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.
Many people who are looking to learn a new language use Babbel, a fun language learning platform that features short online lessons on various languages.
Babbel is known to be a fun and easy way to learn a new language.
Farsi is actually one of the world’s most spoken languages so why doesn’t Babbel have a Farsi course yet?
Why Is Farsi Not On Babbel?
It’s hard to say exactly why Babbel hasn’t yet produced a Farsi course as Farsi is one of the world’s most spoken languages with 110 million speakers.
Babbel has produced courses on much smaller languages in terms of number of speakers in the past.
For example, they have a course on Danish which only has 6 million speakers total which is tiny compared to the number of people who speak Farsi.
By this standard, it’s definitely not the number of speakers of the language that is a problem.
Not Enough Demand
One reason why Babbel may have not yet produced a Farsi course is that there isn’t enough demand.
The bottom line is that Farsi isn’t a popular language for native English speakers to learn.
Relatively few people are interested in learning Farsi compared with other languages and Babbel produces courses based on demand and what is going to make them the most money.
For example, did you know that in 2013 it was found that less than 3,000 college students in the US were enrolled in Farsi courses?
It is a shame that they don’t have a course because it’s certain that there is some demand for English speakers wanting to learn Farsi (you wouldn’t be on this page if there wasn’t!).
When Will Farsi Be Available On Babbel?
Babbel currently has no plans to create a Farsi course.
In their ‘frequently asked questions’ section of their website, Babbel state that they are not planning on adding any new languages in the near future but they are collecting suggestions for future reference.
In order to submit suggestions for future languages, Babbel says you should submit it or vote for other ideas on their Wishboard service.
Wishboard is essentially a forum where you can share ideas, vote for other ideas and discuss ways to improve Babbel.
You do need to create an account with Babbel to use the Wishboard service (it’s free).
Babbel also says that, whilst they can’t implement every idea, they do take onboard feedback and consider all suggestions.
Having checked Wishboard, there are a couple of suggestions for Farsi already and many people have already upvoted these suggestions, which is great.
So if you want Babbel to create a Farsi course in the future, the best thing you can do is log into your account and upvote the suggestions for Farsi.
Alternatives To Babbel To Learn Farsi
Whilst Babbel is a fantastic resource for learning a new language, don’t let their lack of a Farsi course stop you from learning the language if you want to.
There’s plenty of fantastic courses out there for Farsi – both free and paid.

It’s really interactive and gradually introduces new words slowly so you have time to consolidate them all. There’s also plenty of opportunities to practice what you’ve learnt.
Easy Persian
Easy Persian offers hundreds of free lessons on the Farsi language.
It’s a guided course with the lessons taking you from a complete beginner all the way to advanced level.
Paid Alternatives To Learn Farsi
Pimsleur Farsi
Pimsleur Farsi is a fantastic audio course that will get you speaking from day 1.
This course is perfect for anyone who wants to focus on being able to speak the language (rather than reading and writing).
You can try the first Pimsleur Farsi lesson for free to see if you like it.
Farsi Textbook
If you’re looking for a standard textbook to help you with Farsi then the Teach Yourself Farsi book is one of the best out there.
If you also want to be able to read and write in Farsi then you’ll need a textbook like this one.
It’s a great reference point and explains the language in clear, easy to understand terms.
