Vietnamese Birthday Traditions
Birthday traditions can be very important to many people on their birthdays. To make your loved one feel extra special you can also try some of these Vietnamese birthday traditions.
Today in Vietnam, many people celebrate birthdays similar to Western countries e.g. with a birthday cake, candles, presents and a big party!
Many years ago, this was much less common and lots of people didn’t actually know their birthday because it wasn’t something people celebrated. In fact, a fun tradition in Vietnam is that everyone celebrates their birthday on New Year’s Day also known as ‘tet’. This day is said to be the day that everyone gets a year older.
