Installing a Bulgarian keyboard onto your iPhone or iPad is easy to do and it’s completely free. This will allow you to type in the Bulgarian language.

This simple guide will show you step by step how you can install the Bulgarian keyboard onto your iPhone or iPad.

How To Install A Bulgarian Keyboard For iPhone

To install a Bulgarian keyboard onto your iPhone, please follow the steps below. 

  1. Open the settings app on your iPhone.
  1. Select ‘General’.
  1. Select ‘Keyboard’.
  1. Select ‘Keyboards’. This should be the first option.
  1. This will then show any keyboards that you currently have installed. For most people this will just show English.
  1. Select ‘Add New Keyboard’.
  1. You will now see a list of all the available keyboards. You want to scroll down and select ‘Bulgarian’. 
  1. This will then give you the option of ‘Bulgarian (Standard)’ or ‘Bulgarian (Phonetic)’.

Note: The only difference between these 2 keyboards is that the keys are in different locations on the keyboard.

I’d suggest using the phonetic version as it maps the Bulgarian letters to the equivalent English sounds.

For example, where you’d normally find the English letter ‘d’, you’ll find the Bulgarian letter д which makes a ‘d’ sound.

  1. Select the ‘Bulgarian (Phonetic)’ keyboard and click ‘done’.
  1. Bulgarian should now show in the list of keyboards that you have installed.
  1. To use your new keyboard, open up a chat and select the small globe icon in the bottom left corner of your keyboard. You will need to hold this icon down for a second for it to bring up the options.
  1. This will bring up the keyboards you have installed. Select the Bulgarian keyboard (it will be written in the Cyrillic script).
  1. This will then change your keyboard to Bulgarian.

The process is exactly the same on iPad so you can follow the exact same steps as above for iPhone.
