What Languages Does Beyonce Speak?
Beyonce speaks 2 languages to varying levels. Beyonce speaks English and a little bit of Spanish.
English is her first language as she was born and raised in Houston, Texas.

In an interview with People, Beyonce said that she decided to revisit the language later in life because so many of her fans are Hispanic and she wanted to do something special for them.
She also mentioned spending a lot of time practicing each song, sentence by sentence, to make sure she got it just right.
Ten years later in 2017, Beyonce recorded her next song in Spanish when she featured on the hugely successful track ‘Mi Gente’ by J Balvin.
Her Spanish coach for this song, Jean RodrÃguez, said that she was initially nervous when recording the song as she hadn’t sung in Spanish for a long time.
They spent a lot of time working on Beyonce’s Spanish accent to perfect it with Beyonce writing the words down phonetically so she knew how to pronounce them.
He also noted that she isn’t a fluent Spanish speaker and knows ‘just a few words in Spanish that we all know’.
Does Beyonce Speak French?
No, Beyonce doesn’t speak French.
Beyonce’s maternal grandparents were French-speaking Louisiana Creoles. Based on this, many people think that Beyonce may be able to speak French but unfortunately it isn’t true.
It’s unclear if Beyonce’s mother, Tina Knowles, learnt French growing up as her parents spoke both French and English.
Tina Knowles once referred to her parents speaking in ‘very thick’ English accents.
Tina’s parents were already 44 years old when she was born and Tina noted in a speech once that they both became seriously ill when she was pregnant, later passing away.
Based on this, we can conclude that Beyonce doesn’t speak French as she didn’t spend any time with her French-speaking grandparents and as her father didn’t speak French, English would have been used at home when she was growing up.
Beyonce does have a lot of French heritage though with her mother being descended from French military officer Jean-Vincent d’Abbadie de Saint-Castin.
Beyonce did once perform a song in French at the Oscars however it was noted that her French accent was very poor.
